Update on the child pornography charges against Croton resident Eric Kyu.
Kyu's attorney and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York have been in discussions to avoid a trial for several months. The case has now been continued until November 27.
Most readers will be aware that the Chronicle has been tracking the case of Croton resident Eric Kyu, who was arrested on August 7 of this year by the FBI and charged the following day with possession of child pornography. The details of the charges can be found at this link.
We reported that Kyu lost his job at Regeneron as a result of the charges, and that he had been released on $150,000 bail. But the U.S. Attorney’s office had declined to discuss the case with us over the past several months. We have finally convinced that office to provide us with some help updating the progress of a case important to our community, and to respect the right of villagers in Croton to know at least something about what is going on.
Having now gained access to the court docket in the case, which previously was unavailable on the main public service that provides access to court records, we can provide an update to readers.
