Details on that FBI raid in Croton. [Updated Aug 13.]
Croton resident Eric Kyu, arrested at home on Observatory Drive on Wednesday August 7, has now been charged with child pornography offenses.
For several days now Croton has been abuzz with rumors that FBI agents raided a the home on Observatory Drive last Wednesday, August 7. The Chronicle had been able to confirm that it was indeed an FBI operation, from law enforcement sources and eyewitnesses. However, until now authorities had kept details under wraps.
The story was broken yesterday (August 12) by News12 Westchester on its television broadcasts, that the FBI had arrested a 41 year old man living in the house and charged him with possession of child pornography. The Chronicle has confirmed that the man is Croton resident Eric Kyu, co-owner of the house at 34 Observatory Drive.
The charges were filed in U.S. federal court, the Southern District of NY, White Plains Branch. Kyu allegedly possessed 12 items of child pornography that had been printed out from the internet, News12 reported.
At last report Kyu was being held on $150,000 bail, but we will follow the processing of his case closely.
According to one eyewitness who spoke with the Chronicle, at least a dozen black SUVs drove up Observatory Drive about 5 pm last Wednesday evening, and stopped near or in front of the house which is near the end of a cul de sac. The FBI agents reportedly were clearly identifiable by the insignia on their bullet proof vests, and were carrying holstered handguns although no rifles or other heavy weaponry was observed.
The FBI reportedly removed some computers and other electronic equipment, although we are awaiting confirmation of those details.
We expect to have further information soon and will report it when available.

Thank you for this information and future updates on this story. Sad and disturbing.
I don’t think we really need to know the name of the person who may have a family with kids in our school system. It doesn’t seem that he is posing a present danger to our society here in Croton. So let the justice system handle the case without us jumping in and causing more grief for his family.
