Update on Croton charges against accused New Rochelle BMW arsonist. [Updated February 28 with Croton police press detailing the charges against Valdez.]
Hari Valdez was arraigned yesterday in Croton Village Court on six charges involving alleged stealing and theft, in the wake of six outstanding arrest warrants against him.
Yesterday we reported on the arrest of Bronx resident Hari Valdez in New Rochelle for allegedly torching his ex-wife’s 2024 BMW in a parking garage. After his arrest, he was transferred to Croton police on six outstanding arrest warrants.
We have further information today on those Croton charges. According to court personnel, Valdez was arraigned in Croton Village Court on four counts of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, one count of Grand Larceny in the third degree, and one count of Petit Larceny.
In New York state, the felony charge of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree involves stealing property worth more than $1000; the felony charge of Grand Larceny in the third degree involves stealing property worth more than $3000; and Petit Larceny is a misdemeanor involving property worth less than $1000.
Court personnel were unable to provide us with any further details. However, Valdez’s next appearance in Village Court will be on March 19.
We have reason to believe that Valdez, despite his Bronx residence, may have connections with individuals in Croton. Anyone wishing to contact us on this matter can do so in complete confidence at TheCrotonChronicle@gmail.com

I am afraid that Croton's days as a " sleepy little village " are a thing of the past and have been for some time. Being just 40 miles from NYC is great if one desires top notch entertainment on Broadway, etc. but not so great if one desires to be isolated from the cesspool of crime and lawlessness that NYC has become.
Although I don’t know of any connections to Croton he may have, I would venture to say you’re correct. Croton is (at least up until now) been a sleepy, little village; not really on most people’s radar. For him to trek back not once, not twice, not three times BUT four times to steal is not only concerning but indicative that there is likely more than meets the eye. Do you know the dates of the alleged larceny?
