The May 20 election for Croton-Harmon Board of Education seats will be contested. [Updated April 1 -- Pollak/Samuels website]
One incumbent and at least three newcomers will be running for two seats.

For the first time in several years, the election for the Croton-Harmon Board of Education will be contested. At least four candidates will be running for the two seats up for grabs on May 20, and possibly more—prospective candidates have until April 21 to submit their nominating petitions.
Four term trustee Josh Diamond announced earlier this month that he was not running again, but incumbent Theo Oshiro, a leader of the advocacy and aid organization Make the Road New York, will be doing so. Also joining the race is Will Begeny, who works in consulting and marketing and is also a current member of Croton-on-Hudson’s IDEA Advisory Committee.
In the meantime, Leslie Waltzer Pollak and Allison Lehr Samuels have joined the race. Pollak, well-known for her advocacy of higher academic standards in our schools, is Director of Development of the Westchester branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI); Samuels is a lecturer at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business, whose areas of expertise include pedagogy and curriculum development.
We have invited all four known candidates to submit statements for publication in the Chronicle, and we will post them in the order they come in (the same offer will go for any additional candidates who throw their hats into the ring.) In the meantime, both Oshiro and Begeny have mounted Web sites in support of their candidacies.
Please stay tuned for further details and coverage of the election race.
Update April 1: Leslie Pollak and Allison Samuels have now published their campaign Website.

I couldn't agree more Susan! Very thankful Leslie and Allison are running for the Board of Education. I have known both for many years. They have amazing ideas, will ask the tough questions, will advocate for change and bring academics back to our primary focus! Thrilled to learn this news!
I'm excited to see new candidates running for the Board of Education. I welcome fresh perspectives and a renewed focus on academics over ideology.
