On behalf of my brother Vito and I, Darlene, we thank you for this article about our mom, Virginia. She truly cared about the Village and residents. Our mom was a tenacious woman of principle and stood for her beliefs. We are grateful she is remembered by those who knew her through local politics and the school system.
Thank you so much for commenting. It was an honor to write about your mother. I did not contact the family because I did not want to intrude on your privacy so soon after her loss, but I am very pleased that you were happy with my portrayal of her. Be well.
This is a great write up. I remember her running as a write in candidate and campaigning around the village. She was very nice and really wanted to do her best for the village. It’s a shame she didn’t win.
Thanks. It’s one of my favorite stories we have done so far. When she finally got on the ballot as a Croton United candidate she did not do badly even though they all lost.
Sounds quaint, the complaints of the long ago write in candidates vs. today’s write in necessity: Gary and Nigel are running to literally save our village from being destroyed by the Mayor and trustees who will pave it all over so the Mayor can be promoted in the Democratic Party.

Very true.
