Photo Corner: Introducing, Croton Cats! Plus, our forever landing, and more flowers.
Our Monday morning feature has come roaring back with some great new selections from our local photographers. See the bottom of the post for how you, too, can showcase your Croton snapshots.
Croton Landing, by Suzanne Smith.
With this edition of the Photo Corner we introduce a new feature we call “Croton Cats.” Submissions welcome, but they must be cats who live in Croton! The first installment is by Jessica Dieckman.
This is Butters on the left and Goldie on the right. Jessica explains:
“Butters came from the Adirondacks and he took a small bullet by an angry man up there until Little Orphan Animals of Peekskill rescued him and is now a happy boy in Croton. Goldie was rescued by NYC Cat Coalition from the Bronx Zoo parking lot. Named after his color, he was the only Ginger cat in a group of 20 cats rescued. They tipped his ear after his neuter and vaccines thinking he would be released back into a colony there. Upon waking from his procedures he was so friendly, so he was put up for adoption and we got him!
Jessica adds: “It’s amusing these pictures will be published on a Monday since they are of two orange cats like Garfield but he hated Mondays!”
From Bob Anderson, flowers after the rain.
Please remember that all photos are copyright by the photographers and permission is needed from them for any reproduction. To submit photos for next week’s Photo Corner, please send them to TheCrotonChronicle@gmail.com and be sure to include your name for proper credit as well as a caption or brief description of what they are. Photos should have been taken in Croton or have a Croton theme.
To help support this feature and everything else we do at the Chronicle, please consider taking out a paid subscription if you have not already. It’s a bargain, starting at only $5/month.

Some very lovely pictures for this Monday! I am very happy to see cats welcomed to the Monday Croton pictures category. Garfield would be proud.
I love the photos of the Great Blue Herron and lovely flowers too!
Here is a link to Garfield’s take on Mondays. I think the photo collections coming out on this day will brighten what Mondays mean to most people. Even for Garfield. Haha!
