I am grateful that US Attorney John Sarcone III is unharmed. His father (Officer John Sarcone II) was a police officer in Croton and had no fear in helping my father back in the early 1980s when my father came home to find an intruder who had broken into our house and tried to confront my father. I want to reiterate on this platform that violence against an officer (federal, state, county, village) is disgusting and unacceptable. Sadly, there are many in our country who will celebrate this potentially fatal incident based purely on partisan politics. There is no moral outbidding here… Aristotle pointed out that courage is the most important virtue, because without courage we are unable to practice any of the other virtues. Courage has been in notably short supply in recent years. I encourage others to have courage…
I agree that such attacks are absolutely unacceptable but I think it’s unfair to predict that “many” people will be celebrating this until that actually happens. I have seen no evidence of that so far. My personal politics are very different from John’s, but I certainly do not take any satisfaction in this in the slightest.
Thank you for covering this very disturbing event. Violence of any kind for political reasons or not, is never okay. It’s important for people to remember our country was set up at it’s founding so that blood shed and violence is never needed to change our future.
Yes! Absolutely! They are doing vital work protecting citizens and those here legally. I thank them. I thank John Sarcone for his bravery and hard work too.
What a terrible experience! Thankfully US Attorney Sarcone lll was unharmed.
His statement in the article about local and Federal law enforcement working together “to help combat the infiltration of gangs, drug, human traffickers, and sexual predators” is concerning. Michelle Wu, Mayor of Boston —which is recognized as one of the safest cities in America—, said it well, “The American people are not stupid. No one is buying the line that the secret police tactics are making communities safer.”
What a terrible thing to happen. John and his mom have my thoughts with them to get over the emotional angst that something like this carries.

The Sarcone family has deep roots in the village. Thank you for pointing that out.
I see John’s mother all the time at the senior club and I’m sure she is very frantic and concerned right at this moment

We are fortunate that ICE, our law enforcement, etc. are now fully engaged.
