The City of Albany and Albany County are a Democratic Party bastion that would make the City of Chicago seem amatuerish by comparison. The elements of the former O'Connell machine still run everything. No one should expect that a President Trump appointed US Attorney would get fair treatment. The City of Albany downtown is also a crime ridden area where one would not want to spend time after dark, typical of Democratic run cities.

Last from me. The video makes clear that John engaged in a sustained attack on the police before saying at the end that he was not attacking the police. If that were true, the Albany Police Benevolent Association would not have issued such a blistering response to Sarcone, which is also featured in the Chronicle's reporting. One can try to spin the facts here, but they resist that. Perhaps John is right that the police were not as responsive as they should have been, I am not commenting on that. But the police made clear what they thought he should have done in this situation.

The police are entitled to advise and say what they like. John was clearly under attack and saw no police presence at the capital and handled the situation appropriately which resulted in the removal of a violent criminal off the streets. The man could have hurt others. They should have thanked him for keeping his cool and calling for help. The results of this incident should be better security around the Capitol building in Albany. I think this is a learning moment for Albany County.

If Hochul was attacked like this, she wouldn’t just call 911. She has security connections too and knows who to call. It’s really a ridiculous attack on John Sarcone.

I know John Sarcone personally. He is of the utmost upstanding person you can meet. The mere suggestion he set up an illegal alien to try to kill him for attention is completely farcical. He has a friend in security nearby and that’s who he felt most comfortable calling first. Honestly I don’t blame him. Also he has only ever deeply respected law enforcement. He never criticized police once and just asked why police were not already in this highly trafficked area of the capital already. John even publicly said that his comments are of no criticism of the police. This is all an attack on his character because of who he is. It should stop.

I have to correct the record on just one thing here. If one watches the video posted by the Albany media and also in the Chronicle, Sarcone was VERY critical of the police. There is just no question about that and it explains why the Albany police responded with such heat.

He specifically said he is not “blaming the police department” but was appalled that who ever runs Albany County wouldn’t require a police presence around the Capital Building. That’s not attacking the police. It would be best if the police and elected leaders called out this violent repeat criminal who tried killing John Sarcone instead of going after him for saying there was no police presence stationed there. John is a brave man for getting this dangerous man off the streets. He could have hurt or killed somebody else. That fact shouldn’t be overlooked. This was a very serious situation.

I almost wonder if this is a set-up to get Sarcone a little attention. Why would you call the Sheriff if you were a crime victim? Sheriffs serve civil court papers. They don't do law enforcement. Sarcone has made a career of running for office -- for Assemblyman, County Legislator, Governor, among other positions -- and failing. I clearly remember him soliciting support outside of Shoprite with his mother and girlfriend. Here, at least, he's gotten attention for something other than failure.

John doesn’t have a girlfriend. You must be thinking of someone else or you are just spreading rumors.

He did at that time -- approximately 1994/95.

I’ve allowed these comments about John Sarcone’s political career since he is a public figure, but I think to keep within the comments policy it is probably best to stop this particular conversation here before it gets too personal. Thanks.
