Thank you for publishing this excellent Guest Editorial. We must do what we can to end Israel's wr on Palestinians. The town of Croton can support the UN resolution supporting a permanent ceasefire. Thank you Michelle Celarier for writing this.

Anon continues to make personal attacks on the writer of this Guest Editorial which is against the comments policy. They have asked for an explanation and this is it. The policy allows disagreement but not personal comments or characterizations, eg, that someone is an anti-Semite, that they support the regime in Iran, or that they support Hamas, because of what they have written. Most commenters here respect the policy, but we have a few who just cannot disagree with something without becoming either nasty or personal.

A comment has again been deleted because while it was better and stuck to the issues at the end of it the writer still ended up personally attacking the author of the piece and making a gratuitous and unsupported statement about her. Last warning before suspension from commenting.

It seems to me that the Croton Board of Trustees should stick to local issues. Endorsing a call for a ceasefire along the lines of a recent UN resolution would not affect any change in the situation but would furthur inflame passions surrounding the issue.

If you look at the agenda for the board’s meeting tomorrow evening, you will see three resolutions on issues that are not strictly local.

Your petition would not solve the problem.

It would leave the murderous terrorist Hamas organization still in power who were and are committed to destroy Israel by any means possible as seen by their actions on Oct 7.

Why not advocate for another solution that would led to a better life for all Gazans? Hamas should be pressured into freeing all the hostages, laying down their arms and then be offered safe passage to another country. This approach was used in 1982 went Arafat and other terrorists were given safe passage to Tunisia. israeli officials have suggested they would support this concept.

I believe there should be a ceasefire in Gaza and the Palestinians have a right to their own state. But I do not think it is the place for a local Board to get involved in national politics. It is the obligation of the President of the United State to stand up for all Americans who want justice for Gaza. There are so many issues on a local level that cause friction in the Village this would be another issue along with women's right to choose that would cause the pro people and the con people to have a platform to go at each other. This is just my personal opinion, and I respect anyone who differs from me.

I respect that opinion, and I know many people share it. But our national government won't change its policies on this issue without being pushed by everyone. People have been too afraid to speak out on this issue, as I detail in my editorial. That needs to end now.
