Oh, the plight of the righteous. Everyone thinks their viewpoint will be the one to transform the conversation. Our democracy depends on open dialogue and the freedom to air differing viewpoints. In an open forum such as a village meeting the sharing of opinions and ideas must be kept to a timeline. Grandstanding, hyperbole, and/or shouting should not be tolerated. The editorial cartoon depicts a citizen being called for time. There should definitely be a five minute limit for speakers in a public setting. A microphone can be a tool or a weapon. Five minutes is more than enough time to get a point across.
