Thank you for the research. Many communities are re-examining this issue, both pro and con.

There is no PRO argument.

"9 out of 10 doctors recommend Camel cigarettes." Are you old enough to remember when doctors & scientists were paid to say this?

Sadly, the public has been duped, as fluoride is a known toxin. Please read:

Then you probably remember it became a celebrity thing to come on the show and get hit with a pie in the face. Even Frank Sinatra, who sang Pookie's theme song.,

Oh yes! us kids would go home and watch him after school.

Soupy would tell risqué jokes that children did not understand but adults did, and he got into trouble a number of times for that.

And then there was the time he told the kids to take a dollar out of their dad's wallet...and what was the crazy hand creature?

I think he might have been kicked off the air for that one, at least for a while. It happened a number of times.

Here's a tip for you, Chronicle--RFK Jr. once scuba-dived in the Croton River gorge just up from Mayo's Landing.

Michael, you know of my decades long background in water supply and treatment. Personally I have no issue with the potential therapeutic benefits of fluoridation in and of itself. However, there are some downsides from a water chemistry and quality perspective. Too technical to get into specifics about it here. Give me a holler if you’d like to discuss.

Thanks Rocco, interested in hearing more so will get in touch. I don’t think village leaders have any interest in revisiting this question, however, and there is no movement among residents that I am aware of, so probably a moot issue!

I remember this issue being debated when I was a young kid growing up in Croton. My parents and my dentist really pushed to have the water fluoridated. Instead, I had to take a fluoride pill every morning until I was 12 years old. Apparently, the community was very afraid to have its water supply tampered with. The thinking was, well if they can put fluoride in the water supply, what else can they put in there???

Thanks. There was a lot of politics to this as you say.

I hope the Mayor and Village Trustees don’t adopt a policy to add fluoridation because RFK Jr. mandated against it. If they do I predict that a federal lawsuit will likely be brought (saying this as a private citizen and not in any official capacity) and the village can once again waste taxpayer money in the hundreds of thousands to defend and lose!

I don’t see any indication that the village leadership has any interest in this issue or is likely to do anything other than stick with the status quo.
