I was not able to attend last night's meeting, but I am one of the so-called 45% whose taxes would go up. I suspected as much because my total taxes are higher than others in the village who have a home comparable to mind--mostly because of the town taxes.

What no one can explain is just how these assessments are done and why they are so unjust? It makes no sense that I pay more --or just as much-- than a house in the village that is worth more than mine.

I think that's a good point, even at the Webinar they had on this a couple of weeks ago the mechanics of the assessment were not really discussed, and I think a lot of people would be interested in those details.

Thank you for your reporting Michael. I feel like this consolidation is not a good idea and I have voiced this to the board. It really doesn’t seem like a very fair distribution for seniors trying to stay in their homes.

The Mayor's offer to donate his minuscule savings to the Village appears to be a self-serving move in an attempt to defray valid criticism of this unneeded change. Perhaps he can donate it to me to help alleviate my $276 increase or that of my daughter's $2,000 increase. I strongly object to this administration's continuing efforts to rapidly change the character of the Village.

When the nomenklatura here pushed to move village elections from March to November, we were treated with the endless mantra of "vote yes to spend less". That turned out to be patently false.

I would like to know if Pugh's pledge to donate his tax savings to the village would be for one year, or for all the years of his residency in COH? That's a BIG difference!

I am afraid that those who are fiscally & politically conservative in the village are screwed right now. Democrats are renowned for their spend and tax policies. Elections matter and an important one is coming up in November 2025.

I just received a letter from the village. The village has voted to get rid of our tax assessors office and use the Town of Cortlandt.

I believe the mayor and 3 of the 4 trustees all receive a “savings” on their property tax bill.

Michael did a great piece on this earlier.

I feel it’s a little unethical.

Is it really for “equity” or is there a personal benefit to our “elected” officials?
