This poll will run for one week from today. Obviously surveys like this are not scientific, so we are just as interested in your comments as in your vote, if not more so. To leave a comment, please use the button below and follow the comments policy. We will report the results of the survey when the time limit expires.
Update December 8: The poll is now closed. Although about 2,000 readers viewed the poll, only 114 actually voted. The tally was 84% who did not think Diamond’s comments were appropriate, vs. 16% who did.
Some villagers have suggested to us privately that many were afraid to vote for fear their identities would be revealed. For future reference, neither I nor anyone else can see who voted and how they voted, so that should not be an issue. It is also the case that only subscribers (free or paid) to this newsletter can vote per Substack policy; but since there are nearly 1000 subscribers now that also should not have been a limiting factor.
The most important thing is that the survey generated quite a bit of discussion about how public officials should behave, which was the main goal all along. Readers are invited to make further comments by using the button below.

About a year ago at a regular BOE meeting the subject of posting controversial/inflammatory statements by Croton BOE members on personal media sites was discussed as a reflection on the BOE and members by the public. The matter was tabled for review and considered for BOE Policy revision. What ever happened to the Policy review ??
I believe a social media policy was discussed at prior BOE meetings but I don't know if the policy committee ever focused on it. Best to check with the BOE policy committee members.
