It is an encroachment on private property rights. Given the commie board we have, the majority of our electorate suffering from TDS, the continued influx of government-dependent renters, this law with baby teeth today will grow adult razor sharp teeth tomorrow. I am confident this a loose noose around homeowner’s necks that will just keep tightening up until it chokes them out of this village.

So the city councils or boards of Albany, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Nyack etc are all communist run too? The idea that tenants are not entitled to any legal protections at all is an extreme right-wing position.

Having the government regulate what you charge for your property instead of the free market is extreme left wing.

Do you want Pugh to tell you what to charge for your subscription? I’m a citizen who has the right to be informed and have access to an awesome local reporter (thank you, you are good at your craft).

Let’s regulate our local shops. The cow charged me $5 for a coffee that costs me pennies at home. It was about half that 2-3 years ago. I’m a coffee drinker and I want my coffee drinker rights! Let’s regulate them. I demand Capriccio to set their price to no more than $1.50/slice!

I’m gonna need a new roof and would like to give my business to Franzoso. He better have received the memo that we’re a pro housing community and he can’t just charge what he wants.

Screw the local bourgeoisie! Come on comrades, long live the dictatorship of the proletariat!

Excellent points in your comments. Bravo!

Sadly I concur. I am now aware of 4 "small landlords" here in Croton who are out of the business completely---and since there are virtually no regulations in the Hudson Valley on Airbnbs, 2 plan to convert their studios to this model instead.

For all the comrades who are happy with this outcome:

Don’t worry about last time. It’s different when we do it.

(Edit: I’m being sarcastic for those too dense to actually get it.)
