I do not believe partisan politics, being a "conservative" or a Trump supporter is to blame for the disgusting shooting of elected officials in Minnesota. Thomas Matthew Crooks was also a registered Republican who attempted to assassinate Trump during the Butler, PA rally. James T. Hodgkinson, who opened fire on lawmakers at a charity baseball game in 2017, despised Republicans. Right now our country is divided. Emotions are running high. I encourage you to consider writing about how people who are radical leftists, moderates, conservatives, libertarians, etc. are also human beings. How do we live together and discuss our political beliefs in civilized discourse? At the end of the day, we are a village and we need to look out for each other.

“we can’t pick and choose the victims we prefer to champion and to mourn over. Not if we want to claim to be moral beings.” In fact we can. There is a lot of discussion today of “whataboutism” — a way of defending one immoral action by pointing out the general acceptance of another immoral action. Most debaters would agree that whataboutism is an invalid form of argument. In other words, we *can* pick and choose which immoral actions we wish to focus on and ignore others.
