The latest issue of the New Croton Review is published. And there's a party!
A number of Croton villagers have contributions in this issue.
Croton’s own literary and arts journal, the New Croton Review, is out with a new issue, and it’s looking better than ever. That’s thanks to improvements in the organization, layout and typography of the publication, according to a Letter from Editor-in-Chief Jeanne-Noel Mahoney that introduces the Spring 2025 edition.
Last year we wrote about the venerable history of the review and talked with its leading editors. We hope readers will refresh their memories by reading that profile at this link. While the publication is open to submissions from around the world, the spring issue has a number of contributions from Crotonites:
Stephen Butterfass, Lauren Davis, Bruce Dollar, Rob Dublin, Kate Gallagher, Stephen Jacoby, Eleanor Kwei, Valerie Leis, John MacLean, Roger Pare and the late Jerry Smath (the cover artist.)
The new issue is available online through Google Play Books and Apple Books (both free), as well as on Amazon Kindle. Hard copies can be ordered on Amazon. Locally, it can be purchased at
By-the-Dam Bookstore (inside the Black Cow) at 4 Old Post Rd. S., Croton-on-Hudson, NY
Cornelia Cotton Gallery at 111 Grand St, Croton on Hudson, NY
Hudson Valley Books for Humanity at 67 Central Ave, Ossining, NY
As Mahoney says in her Letter, “These are rough times. Most of us are just trying to cope the best we can, and things that give us pleasure and satisfaction are more important than ever. This issue of the New Croton Review is one of those things.”
To enhance the pleasure even more, the Review is hosting a party right here in Croton the evening of May 17 to celebrate the launch. Here are the details:

As Mahoney says in her Letter, “These are rough times. Most of us are just trying to cope the best we can".
I wonder what is so rough? Donald Trump won the election?
I believe that most ordinary people in this country are very satisfied and happy as hell!
