Staying ahead of the game: A note to Chronicle subscribers.
To keep up to date, be sure to check the Web version of Chronicle articles even after you have received the publication in your email inbox.
Thank you for being among the (as we write) 921 people who receive every post of the Chronicle in their email inboxes. That means you receive each story the moment it is published, thanks to Substack’s 24/7 computers.
But often, especially with news stories, we publish updates (and correct occasional spelling mistakes, with thanks to those who point them out.) For example, we have already updated our story on the judge’s decision in the Anthony Frascone/Mondaire Jones lawsuit a few times as new information came in and as the attorneys in the case weighed in with their comments.
(On that note: The Chronicle beat all other media on the judge’s decision to leave Anthony Frascone on the ballot by a three full days. Not to brag, but Croton should be proud that its own homegrown online newsletter is often ahead of the reporter pack. And if we do frequent updates, it’s because we are working hard to stay on top of events that occur in Croton or affect villagers directly.)
For each update, we have to decide whether to note that on the original story or publish a whole new story, depending on just how important the new news is. But as you probably know, Substack does not email you a new version of a story just because we have made some updates to it. Nor would you want them to.
So, if you want to have the latest updates on any particular story you are following, we strongly recommend that you visit the link to it on The Croton Chronicle home page from time to time. Very occasionally, we will alert you to updates with a new email, but believe it or not we are actually trying to limit the number of emails you get.
As we approach our one year anniversary (one week to go), we want to thank you once again for your subscription and your support. You have helped to make the Chronicle essential reading for those in Croton who want to stay informed.
One last thought. The holidays are coming at us like a freight train. Please consider giving a gift subscription to someone you care about, or you think needs to be well informed about what goes on in Croton.
Thank you.
