Revolution on the Hudson!
On Saturday November 9 Croton Point Park comes alive as our glorious revolutionary history re-materializes before our eyes. A don’t miss.
Here are some additional details provided by our Village Historian, Marc Cheshire:
The Village of Croton-on-Hudson is supporting the event by providing free shuttle service from the Croton-Harmon Metro North RR station for anyone coming by train. The Croton Historical Society, in addition to having a table, has received a $1,500 Greenway grant to pay for a group of African American reenactors. The rest of the funds are coming from Revolutionary Westchester 250 (RW250.) The county is not charging for use of the park and is providing some services.
In addition to the reenactors RW250 is giving free space to historical organizations. Confirmed so far: West Point Museum, Phillips Manor Hall State Historic Site, Fort Montgomery State Historic Site, Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters, Saint Paul’s Church National Historic Site, Ardsley Historical Society, Croton Historical Society, Hastings Historical Society/Revolutionary Hastings, Yonkers Historical Society, Friends of the Ward House, Eastchester Historical Society, Tuckahoe History Committee, Yorktown Historical Society, Pines Bridge Memorial Committee, Children of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Revolution, Thomas Paine Cottage Museum, Haverstraw Brick Museum, Peekskill Museum, Clearwater, Schooner Apollonia, Croton Point Nature Center, and Westchester Library System.
