Photo Essay: "I've got mushrooms!"
A new, occasional, low stress, no pressure feature in The Croton Chronicle.
by Bob Anderson
I'm a constant gardener, always trimming, planting, and dividing at my home on Franklin Avenue. It all started over 50 years ago after seeing the gardens at Versailles and in Japan. During that time, my gardens have always changed from annuals to perennials and different shrubs. The local deer population has certainly helped me make choices.
This spring it turns out I've got more than flowers...I've got mushrooms! And a pretty cool batch as you can see. I love to eat mushrooms but will take a pass on these since I don't know what they are.
Enjoy the pictures, my new garden is calling. My wife (black thumb) calls it "digging in the dirt." But it's my happy, thoughtful and peaceful place. Everyone should give it a try even if you grow and nurture only one patio plant.

Editor’s Note: Some readers may recall that last year we ran a Photo Corner for a number of weeks, but the submissions eventually dried up, so we discontinued the feature despite its apparent popularity. But when former Croton trustee and Croton Senior Club vice-president Bob Anderson sent us these photos and told us to do what we wanted with them, inspiration struck. We could run an ad hoc Photo Essay just whenever someone got in the mood to send some photos AND was willing to write at least a couple of paragraphs about what they were and what they meant to the photographer. No pressure on anyone! But if you get in the mood, please send submissions to TheCrotonChronicle@gmail.com. (We should add, to avoid disappointment, that pet photos will have to leap a high editorial bar, such as a compelling story to go with them. Same for baby pix.)
