Including a poem in which the squirrel waxes rhapsodic about an ice cream cone.

One day about 12 years ago I was helping to chaperone my daughter’s fourth grade class picnic in Saratoga Springs when some magic happened. A group had just returned from getting ice cream from a local shop and decided to form a baseball game. One of the boys laid his cone on the ground and hurried off to join in the fun. At that moment I noticed a squirrel scoot down a tree, grab the cone and scurry back up to enjoy the treat of his life. I quickly grabbed my phone and caught the culprit in the act. Afterward, I wrote a poem entitled “A Squirrel’s Lucky Day.”

haha adorable--love it!
I loved this picture. Yesterday I came home and a squirrel was sitting on my fence nibbling on something. I couldn't make out what it was. He didn't move he was so intent on eating that he jumped when I closed the car door and then scurried away doing his best to hold onto his food.
Also loved your really cute little poem.
