Lindsay Audin, chair of the Croton Sustainability Committee, has kindly sent us these photos, taken by committee member David S. Goldman, of the lights under the solar array at the Croton-Harmon train station.
Each light is controlled by a photocell on top of it. Audin tells us that they are hoping for ConEd to finish hooking up the high voltage line from the solar canopies to the grid by the end of the month, and then the panels can start outputting power.
The next step will be to install the 18 EV charging ports along the west side of Veterans Plaza, in sections C and D. Once they are installed, probably by late summer of this year, charging will be free for two years.
Let the sun shine brightly on Croton-on-Hudson.

A couple of comments raised the question of where the electricity will go and who is paying for it, etc. I asked Lindsay Audin if he wanted to respond and he provided this comment:
"The distribution of the community solar discount was not part of the initial leasing deal with the solar vendor. Instead, it was a "handshake" option that arose thereafter.
We wanted to get as much discounted power to Crotonites as possible, but the vendor's own "customer acquisition contractor" had an enrollment schedule that was tighter than our ability to identify interested residents. Bottom line: future contracts should have such enrollment built into them. That was one among several "lessons learned" in this effort.
However, all Village residents - not just the few enrolled in community solar - will benefit from the annual $485,000 in rent that the Village will receive from this project."
It's not free charging . Every taxpayer / consumer is fitting the bill for someone getting a free charge. I want someone to fill my gas tank for "free"
