Man accused of torching his ex-wife's BMW in New Rochelle was also wanted in Croton.
Hari Valdez was arrested in New Rochelle and then released to Croton police. He appeared in Croton Village Court today.
A Bronx man arrested in New Rochelle for allegedly setting his ex-wife’s 2024 BMW on fire in a parking garage was also wanted in Croton on six active arrest warrants, according to several local media reports. Sources in the Croton Police Department confirmed that Hari Valdez, 34, appeared in Croton Village Court today after being arrested by New Rochelle police yesterday and released on his own recognizance.
The arson attack reportedly took place on Sunday, February 16, but the suspect had fled by the time police arrived. New Rochelle police obtained a search warrant for Valdez’s Bronx residence on February 21, and executed the warrant yesterday and placed him under arrest.
Croton police would not immediately specify the nature of the six arrest warrants in Croton and the court had already closed by the time we began our reporting, but the Chronicle will pick up on the story tomorrow and provide further details.
We did, however, reach Valdez’s attorney in the New Rochelle case, Paul R. King of Mineola, New York. King confirmed that he was also representing Valdez in the Croton cases, but would not comment further.
