The Chronicle has learned that our local chapter of the League of Women Voters has invited all six candidates in this November’s village elections to participate in a Candidate Forum the evening of October 9. The event has been scheduled to take place in the Croton Municipal Building’s main meeting room.
Since anyone in an electoral jurisdiction can make such a request, the Chronicle first asked the League to hold a candidate forum this fall back on May 28 of this year. Our local chapter of the League, which covers northwest Westchester County, is fairly new and there are a number of elections taking place in November, but it is busy organizing candidate forums in several local municipalities.
The local League chapter covers communities including Briarcliff Manor, Buchanan, Cortlandt, Croton on Hudson, Jefferson Valley, Mohegan Lake, Montrose, Ossining, Peekskill, Shrub Oak, Somers, Verplanck, and Yorktown.
Representatives of both the Croton Democrats and Voice of Croton have told us that they plan to participate.
The Chronicle will have more details soon, including about the logistics for the event.
