The League of Women Voters of Northwest Westchester will be hosting moderated, in person candidates’ forums for the offices of Mayor and Village Trustees in Croton on Hudson:
· Thursday, October 9th 2025
· Croton Municipal Building 1 Van Wyck Place, Croton on Hudson, NY
Georgianna Grant Meeting Room, 2nd Floor
· Candidates for Mayor from 7:00pm-8:00pm
· Candidates for Trustee from 8:00pm-9:00pm
All questions come from the public and must be submitted prior to the event. No questions will be taken from the floor. Candidates do not receive questions in advance.

The deadline for submission is Saturday, October 4th
The moderator selected for these forums is LWVW trained and resides outside of the voting district.
In accordance with the League’s “Empty Chair Policy”, a candidate forum may proceed with participation of at least one candidate from each party. To date, LWVNWW has secured sufficient participation for these forums.
The mission of the League and its local affiliates is to empower voters by promoting informed citizen participation in government, and defending democracy. The League is nonpartisan and does not support or oppose individual candidates or parties.
“2025 is an elections year with emphasis on the “s”, says LWVNWW co-president Kathy Meany. “Not only does Westchester County have many city/town/village elections, but the County Executive, Clerk and 17 Legislators are also up for elections.”
Co-president Teri Lukin adds “Local elections are just as important as state and national elections. Your voice is your vote. We hope you can join us.”

I participated in the school board debates conducted by the League of Women Voters by attending at our high school auditorium. That debate was simultaneously available online.
I don’t understand the reason why our candidate debate for village Board of Trustees and Mayor is not going to be simultaneously broadcast. I question whether any party to the debate influenced that determination, I expected the debate to be held at our library, which I believe to be a better physical forum with which to hold a debate. Even the high school auditorium would be a improvement, parking by our municipal building is almost impossible.
