Is the popular Mother's Lap Beach at Croton Point Park closed again?
Readers report that a promise made by the Westchester County parks department last year is being broken once again.
Many readers will recall that after receiving complaints and making inquiries last year, the Chronicle obtained a promise by Westchester County park officials that Mother’s Lap Beach would remain open during regular hours so that people could walk on that long and popular stretch of sand. It soon became clear that this promise had limitations, however.
Over the past few days we have had reports from several readers that the gate to the beach park officials agreed to open, near the ranger station, has been closed as the new winter season begins.
