Guest Editorial by Gary Eisinger and Nigel Ravelo, write-in candidates for Croton Board of Trustees this November 5.
The candidates advocate a one year moratorium on new projects greater than 5 units.
Editor’s note: While the Chronicle does not endorse candidates for public office, we hope to provide a community forum to those candidates who want to present their positions and views in this space. This is in addition to our own reporting on election campaigns. To that end, we have asked Len Simon and Maria Slippen, also candidates for the Board this November, to submit position papers, Guest Editorials, or any other materials for publication in the Chronicle. We have been told that they are currently considering this invitation.
In the late hours of Thursday, September 5th, we announced our candidacies through our Voice of Croton Facebook page. We invited Crotonites to a Meet & Greet the Candidates event at our beautiful waterfront for the last summer concert series of the season at Senasqua Park. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with neighbors and friends speaking about the issues and what compelled us to run. We’re grateful to those who sought us out and were willing to connect with us.
Our candidacy was fueled by the ever-growing 1300+ petitioners who have asked for this current administration to take a pause on any new, large-scale development. We share their same concerns and sentiments and feel that neither we nor they are being heard. Therefore, we needed to take action to provide this village with another choice this election cycle.
We are running under the banner of Voice of Croton. We believe that the people of this village should have a voice. Crotonites are smart, sensible, highly invested community members who deserve to have their voices not only heard, but amplified.
This November 5th, let your choice be your voice – vote Write-In Candidates Gary Eisinger and Nigel Ravelo. Your Voice, Our Future.
Respectfully,

I met Gary at Senasqua and was quite impressed by his sincere love of Croton and determination to see it preserved as a small town not a White Plains in the making. Our board is desperately in need of independent voices who will challenge the current development rubber stamp mentality. Write in Gary and Nigel this election!
Wish I had known about your meet and greet! We were listening from the parking lot and would have loved to meet you again. Please schedule another and please get some lawn signs and telephone pole posters! You need to get the word out! Len Simon has come to various senior Club meetings and lied to us about his plans to urbanism and ruin Croton!
