I’m saddened to hear this latest information concerning the conduct of our village government, our board of trustees and legal council. The conduct is not tolerable and requires immediate action. A independent review by a non-politically biased externally, retained legal council, needs to take place, unfortunately while this is a occurring our village manager needs to be suspended from his position, pending termination of employment, subject to the outcome of the investigation. Our village engineer needs to be interviewed by a law firm independent of currently retained legal council to verify the veracity of the allegations levied by our code enforcement officer. A few weeks ago I commented that our village with a population of 8000 with an operating budget of $20 million annually could not afford the bizarre actions our local government has choose to embark upon, involving national political issues The reality of how truly warped, our village manager and our board of trustees led by an inappropriate mayor will cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars that we cannot afford to spend will unfold before us
If anybody in the village administration attempts retribution on Thor Snilsberg or in any other way causes him professional or personal grief for this "whistleblower" letter he pretty clearly didn't leak, please let me know.
Thor, in my experience, has been a conscientious, prudent, and smart contribution to the village staff and he actually lives here (unlike Brian Healy, who sounds to be the one who forced this ridiculous situation), and I will absolutely pursue a public campaign to protect Thor's job.
A recent quote by Howard Stern applies to Croton as well,
"When the government says, 'I'm not pleased with you, so we're going to orchestrate a way to silence you,' it's the wrong direction for our country. It isn't good."
Second note to the editor: This is one of the reasons elections have been uncontested, the fear and intimidation created by a one party government. Folks are afraid to speak out for fear of reprisal from building department, police dept. etc. Ask around, the village may not be as virtuous and quaint as you think.
Do we need to look any further than the Bryan and Brian gang? It's time for a change. VOTE!

The Lenny issue was a stupid move by an administration that is clearly past its expiration date. But let’s not go way overboard in typical Trump fashion. It’s just a sign. Lenny will not be visited by ICE agents or canceled from a job or persecuted in the many ways this administration is attacking anyone who doesn’t praise Dear Leader. Get a grip everyone.
As for Thor, he is a very good guy who was badly used and the people who did it should be replaced in the coming election.

Our Mayor and our village manager used one of their village employees to as a political pawn. This is very upsetting. No employee should ever be treated this way. I would have expected more from Mayor Pugh who speaks often about protecting union employees as does his wife (County Legislator Emiljana Ulaj). Would you ever want to work as an employee for the village after seeing how they treat their employees?
As long as Lenny's Trump flag/banner flew unmolested, the village could brag about its diversity and tolerance for differing views and take the high road on free speech. The whistleblower's experiences suggest that politics took the lead, despite denials. The Chronicle has asked village officials to comment if they care to, and that will be published in a followup article.
I've spoken to the code enforcement officer regarding signage. I found him to be affable, knowledgeable, and ready to listen. If what he said in his letter can be verified(I believe it can) then the collusion between the board, the mayor and village manager and their legal counsel is pervasive. They have violated their oath of office. They cannot continue the business of the village and they must stand down and allow an independent trustee to conduct village business until the allegations are verified. Anything they say or do going forward is tainted.
I've said many times that one party rule is a recipe for corruption. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm disgusted and dismayed by these clowns who should know better.
I can only hope that they are all voted out or censured or sued during the upcoming election. Voting the Dem party line in November will only enhance their arrogance. The Voice of Croton candidates will get my vote to clean house and point us in a new direction. This is a terrible time for the Village of Croton.
Lenny Amicola's attorney, Roseann Schuyler, had some very interesting things to say about the Village Attorney's legal arguments for why going after Lenny was valid, including making the point that the case law Josh Subin cited was not applicable to this case. I am not making any judgments here, but if the village is getting bad legal advice--or getting the legal advice it wants to hear, which the previous Village Attorney seemed to do at times--that could be problematic. I guess we shall see.

Mr. Amicola has now had to--TWICE---retain legal counsel exactly because the village administration essentially went.... "overboard".......
