Last month we reported on the Croton court appearance of Edisson E. Quichimbo-Guayara, 20, of Newark, New Jersey, who is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident in our village. As we reported then:
“According to Croton police, about 2:32 am on December 31, first responders were called to Route 9 North just south of the Croton Point Avenue exit, where a man was lying in the roadway. He was transported to Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, but pronounced dead. Using debris from the roadway, Croton police, along with Westchester County accident investigators, were able to identify the vehicle and the accused driver, Quichimbo-Guayara. He was arrested and charged with the Class D felony of leaving the scene of a fatal motor accident.”
Word now comes from the Westchester County District Attorney’s office that Quichimbo-Guayara has now been formally indicted on these charges. According to the DA’s Public Information Officer, Anna Young:
A Westchester County Grand Jury indicted the defendant, Edisson Quichimbo-Guayara, for Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, a felony. The defendant was arraigned today before Judge George Fufidio in Westchester County Court and bail remains set at $6,000. His next court date is March 7.
So the case now moves out of Croton’s village court. Nevertheless, we will continue to follow it as it winds through the legal system.
